set your heart free

Published October 9, 2009 by Yassmin Elnazer

who stole your heart?
who broke the key?
who gave you those locks?
who rejected thou love?
who thought it’sn’t enough?
just tell me
who can unlock it now?
that it’s broken
the lock still there
but the key is stolen
speak up
can’t you tell
scream thou hurt out
scream and cry out loud
but he would not care
you gave him your key
your heart forever will be his
and his is not yours to be
look at me
scream,forget and set yourself free
you gave him this heart one part
he throw it away
smashed it into pieces
broke the key and left you
imprisoned behind his love
locked behind the hurt
to love again
you are so scared
cry out and go get your key

inspired by the Tracy Chapman song: Remember the Tinman:
